September 5-6 Third Annual PortTechEXPO - PortTechLA, a coalition that includes the Port of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles and the San Pedro and Wilmington chambers of commerce, hosts its 3rd annual PortTechExpo. This two-day event includes a maritime conference and competition of the most innovative environmental, transportation, energy and security technologies. The event “attracts business and community leaders, venture capitalists, maritime industry experts and technology entrepreneurs from around the region,” with an average of 300 attendees and 50 exhibitors annually. September 10 Board of Harbor Commissioners Meeting - The City of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners meets at 1 p.m. at the harbor department building, 925 Harbor Plaza, to discuss: a presentation on the Panama Canal Expansion; the proposed fiscal year 2012-2013 salary resolution; a contract extension with The Solis Group for project labor agreement administration through February 2015 and increasing the contract to $1.4 million; a $2.95 million cash transfer as an advance to the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority for anticipated cash shortfall; the transfer of $16.825 million in four quarterly installments to the tidelands operating fund; and more. September 21 Deadline For Comments On Terminal Project - The Port of Long Beach and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a draft environmental impact statement and report on August 22 about a proposed construction aggregate, sand, gravel and granite import facility on privately owned property in the harbor district.
