June 5, 2012 – The Historical Society of Long Beach (HSLB) recently commemorated its 50th anniversary with a celebration hosted by the Queensview Steakhouse at Parkers’ Lighthouse, 435 Shoreline Village Dr. During the past half-century, the HSLB has used its collection of historical documents, photographs, artifacts and more to connect individuals to the city’s past by publishing books, developing exhibits and hosting public programs. “We are proud to have two restaurants here in Long Beach and are even more proud to be a part of this community,” Parkers’ Lighthouse General Manager Michael Cole, whose restaurant’s dining room walls feature photographs from the HSLB’s collection, said in a prepared statement. “It was our honor to host this celebration for an organization that is dedicated to preserving this great city’s history.” Located at 4260 Atlantic Ave., the HSLB is open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-5 p.m., Thursday from 1-7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on Sunday and Monday.
