June 5, 2012 – The Flea Espresso Bar & Cafe opened on Retro Row at 2023 E. 4th St. on May 24. Located adjacent to the historical Art Theatre in the space previously occupied by Portfolio Annex, the cafe is aptly named for the location’s cozy, flea circus-sized square footage. It features a rotating selection of artisanal coffee roasts from around the world, including beans that have been roasted locally by Long Beach’s Rose Park Roasters. To accompany its menu of espresso selections, owner Jordan Pinches, whose mother, Joan Samson, owns Starling Diner in Belmont Heights, also stocks the cafe with locally made baked goods. The Flea Espresso Bar & Cafe is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on Monday. For more information, visit www.fleaespresso.com.
