July 17, 2012 – Long Beach Day Nursery was founded in 1912 by women “who felt that working mothers needed quality child care – a radical idea at the time since very few women worked outside the home,” according to a statement sent by the organization announcing the installation of its new officers at the group’s 100th Anniversary Annual Meeting. The new officers of the board of directors are, pictured from left: Recording Secretary Michael Soutar, president/partner with MSP Architects; Treasurer Steven T. Romeyn, controller and IT administrator with Commerce Casino; Board Chair Deloris Mayuga, a real estate investor and property manager; Chair-elect Jon Gotz, president of Gotz Insurance Agency; 1st Vice Chair Governance Julie Taboada, retired educator; and 2nd Vice Chair Resource Development Joan Anderson, retired controller for the Girl Scouts of Orange County.
