July 17, 2012 – On July 12, Hotel Maya unveiled a 6,500-square foot, man-made beach called, “Playa at the Maya.” The beach is in the center of the property’s 14 acres and features 285 tons of sand, two four-foot diameter fire pits, umbrellas, chaise lounges and a day bed. “Guests love Playa at the Maya, whether they are relaxing on the beach, making smores around the fire pits or attending a private affair. We have received an overwhelmingly positive response,” Kristi Allen, general manager at Hotel Maya, said in a statement. “The new Playa at the Maya further accentuates the property’s Mayan experience and resort-style atmosphere, all on the port side of Queensway Bay.” Hotel Maya is a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
