Dr. Kim Shoe Drive

July 31, 2012 – Kim Foot & Ankle Centers is hosting its 15th annual shoe drive donation celebration and 21st birthday party on Wednesday, August 8, at its offices: 701 E. 28th St., Suite 111, in Long Beach. The shoe drive runs each year from May 7 to July 31, and culminates in a celebration. According to Dr. S. Don Kim, the event collected 5,000 pairs of shoes in its first year, and last year they collected more than 15,000 pairs. The shoes are given to local charities which in turn distribute them to those in need. “Shoes are distributed within our local communities, Mexico and some will go overseas. We try to reach as many in need as we can,” Dr. Kim said. The celebration, aimed at thanking those who have donated shoes, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and includes performances by Estela Vega and her Zumba dancers, food by Los Pollos and prize giveaways. RSVP required by calling 562/426-2551.
