Arts & Services For Disabled In Long Beach Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Arts Serves for the Diabled

July 31, 2012 – In August, Long Beach-based Arts & Services For Disabled, Inc. celebrates its 30th anniversary. The non-profit organization works with disabled individuals to provide a means for them to reach their potential and capabilities. Arts & Services For Disabled, which employs 50 people, serves 150 students daily through its adult support service programs. The non-profit’s arts workshops, two galleries and its exhibitions program reach more than 3,000 individuals in Southern California with disabilities. “Our number for community engagement is over 300,000 annually,” according to Helen G. Dolas, founder and CEO of Arts & Services For Disabled, who is pictured at far right. The programs at the non-profit are designed as education and therapy in the areas of positive and adaptive social behavior, community inclusion, communication, emotional development and basic life skills.
