El Lobo Restaurant

August 14, 2012 – Sonia Gomez, former general manager of Alegria Cocina Latina on Pine Avenue, opened El Lobo restaurant on July 1. Gomez is partner and executive chef at the El Lobo, located at 2941 E. Broadway. El Lobo, which means “the wolf” in Spanish, offers a menu of Latin dishes including: open-fire roasted Poblano peppers stuffed with pork picadillo drizzled with walnut cream sauce; pan-seared Red Snapper sautéed in fresh tomato, olive and caper jalapeño tequila sauce; grilled Black Tiger Prawns sautéed in garlic chile de arbol sauce with green and red bell peppers and onions served over stewed vegetables. All entrees are priced under $20. The building has an “old colonial Mexican flair” with décor reminiscent of a cozy comedor (dining room). El Lobo is open for dinner 5-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 4-9 p.m. on Sundays and is closed Mondays. For more information, call 562/438-1311.
