August 28, 2012 – St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach announced in mid-August that it had treated its first patient suffering from severe, persistent asthma with an innovative new procedure called bronchial thermoplasty. This treatment helps decrease asthma exacerbations and reduce emergency room visits.
