September 11, 2012 – Nick’s on 2nd, an American restaurant, bar and grill, opened last month at 4901 E. 2nd St. in Belmont Shore. It’s the newest addition to the mini-chain of NickCo Hospitality Group, which includes Nick’s Laguna Beach, Nick’s San Clemente and South of Nick’s, also in San Clemente. The family-owned restaurant group originated with Nick’s Restaurant at Cherry Avenue and Wardlow Road in Long Beach in the 1960s. The new restaurant boasts an island bar, walls of glass and an exhibition kitchen. The menu features comfort food items and bar snacks, including sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups and more. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
