Occupied Douglas Park Building Sells For $15 Million

Earlier today, Irvine-based Faris Lee Investments announced the $15 million sale of a 40,376-square-foot office building in Douglas Park. Located on 2.65 acres at 4130 Cover St., the newly built, freestanding building is occupied by United Pacific, serving as the gas station and convenience store company’s corporate headquarters. United Pacific signed a 10-year lease with the new owner, a family trust from Northern California represented by CBRE.

 

U.S. Chamber Says Tax Reform Already Helping Small Businesses

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce released an article yesterday detailing how the federal tax overhaul, which it identified as the most significant in more than 30 years, is already having a positive impact on small businesses nationwide. Councilmember Jeannine Pearce Appoints New Chief Of Staff

Dina Cervantes has started her new position as 2nd District Councilmember Jeannine Pearce’s chief of staff. Previously, Cervantes served as campaign manager to state Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo, representing district 51. She also worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District in the areas of policy, communications and constituent services. Cervantes was the first in her family to graduate from a four-year university.

 

Tax Increase For Air Pollution Reduction Could Be On 2020 Ballot

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is seeking to place a quarter-cent sales tax increase proposal on the 2020 ballot within the South Coast Air District. The tax would be used to fund the reduction of air pollution within the region. SCAQMD is requesting that the state legislature author and pass a bill that would place the proposal on the ballot.  The organization estimates that the measure could generate as much as $700 million annually.

 

Second District Community Meetings Start This Month

Second District Councilmember Jeannine Pearce is launching new monthly meetings to be held every fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Bixby Park Community Center, 130 Cherry Ave.

 

Official Artist Named For 2018 Toyota Grand Prix

Motor racing artist Hector Cademartori has been named the official artist for the 2018 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The official race poster, souvenir program and fan guide will feature his work. Cademartori also designed the poster for the 1984 Toyota Grand Prix. He moved to the U.S. from his native Buenos Aires, Argentina to pursue motor racing art in 1983.
