Nonprofit To Launch Fundraising Campaign Benefiting The Queen Mary
Queen Mary International (QMI), a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Queen Mary, is launching a new fundraising campaign on October 31 called Project Royal Rivets. Signal Hill Pollution Abatement Firm Opens Manufacturing Facility In China
The Signal Hill-based pollution abatement firm Ship & Shore Environmental (S&SE), Inc. has opened a new manufacturing facility for its air pollution control systems in Shanghai. “For years, America has been a world leader in manufacturing air pollution control technology,” Anoosheh M. Oskouian, Ship & Shore Environmental’s CEO and president, said. “With China now taking the essential steps needed to master its pollution crisis, I’m very confident our new manufacturing operations, Ship & Shore China, will be an asset to the industry.” Ship & Shore has expanded its global footprint with system installations in Spain, India and Thailand, a press release noted. But current trade tensions between the U.S. and China have threatened the company’s growth in that country, the release stated. “Since it started operating in the China market, S&SE has closed deals with two multi-billion-dollar firms,” John Von Bargen, the company’s vice president of Engineering, noted. “We can’t allow these short-term complications to steer us away from addressing the pollution control needs of China’s 1.4 billion citizens.”

Seven members of the CSU board of trustees have been appointed to a special committee to find White’s replacement, with an additional three ex-officio members, including White. A stakeholder advisory committee made up of representatives from the California State Student Association, the CSU’s alumni council, campus presidents and staff, as well as others will be appointed to work with the board’s special committee.
