Port Of Long Beach Pier B On-Dock Rail Project Gets The Green Light

Last night, the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility, a project that will expand the use of rail to transport cargo, minimizing truck trips. The expanded rail operations will allow longer trains to be assembled and enable containers to be placed directly onto rail at marine terminals. American Bankers Association Commends Federal Reserve Chair Confirmation

Councilmember Price To Unveil New Aquatics Project

At her community meeting this Saturday (January 27), 3rd District Councilmember Suzie Price is unveiling a new Tidelands capital project that she says will encourage swimming and aquatic sports. Updates from the city prosecutor and police, fire and marine departments are also scheduled for the meeting. 11 a.m., U.S. Sailing Center, 5489 E. Ocean Blvd.

 

CSULB Breaks All-Time Record For Applications

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) received more than 102,000 undergraduate applications for the fall 2018 semester – an all-time high for the university. This was the most amount of applications received by any California State University campus. The applicants are competing for 8,500 available seats.

 

Long Beach Transit Holding A Job Fair

Long Beach Transit is holding a job fair to fill 35 openings for bus operators and 19 openings for mechanics, transit service delivery supervisors, a payroll supervisor and a senior grants accountant.
