About 70% Of American Small Businesses Are Optimistic, Report Healthy Operations

Small business confidence continues to increase into the third quarter of this year, according to the Q3 MetLife & U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index. The third quarter report revealed that 69.7% of American small business owners expressed optimism in the economic climate, an increase of one point compared to the second quarter. This is the sixth consecutive quarter that small business optimism has increased, according to the U.S. Chamber. California Leads Employment In Energy Efficiency Sector

A new report has revealed that California leads the nation in employment in the energy efficiency sector with 310,000 jobs. The analysis by E2, a national nonpartisan group of environmental entrepreneurs, and the energy nonprofit E4TheFuture found that the energy efficiency sector experienced more job growth – 67,000 net new jobs – than any other U.S. energy industry sector in 2017. According to the report, energy efficiency now accounts for 35% of all U.S. energy jobs. Examples of energy efficient work includes constructing LEED-certified buildings, installing energy-saving LED lights and manufacturing energy saving appliances.

 

Dignity Health-St. Mary Medical Center Welcomes New Chief Operating Officer

Dignity Health-St. Mary Medical Center announced the appointment of Bonnie Panlasigui to chief operating officer. Panlasigui has more than a decade of executive leadership experience in hospital operations. She previously served as chief administrative officer at Alameda Hospital and as the chief operating officer at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In her new role, Panlasigui’s responsibilities include overseeing St. Mary’s non-clinical departments and maintaining the hospital’s growth and financial security. Panlasigui is also the chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the California Association of Healthcare Leaders.

 

MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute Receives Recognition For Care Standards

“Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure,” a hospital improvement program, has awarded the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Long Beach Medical Center with its Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The institute received recognition for implementing patient improvement measures and for “meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of the more than 800 heart failure patients treated each year,” according to MemorialCare. About 5.7 million U.S. adults suffer from heart failure, according to the American Heart Association. That figure is expected to increase to eight million by 2030.

 

Airport Summer Music Series Tonight

The Long Beach Airport’s Summer Music Series continues tonight from 6-8 p.m. at 4100 Donald Douglas Dr., with a performance by Gregg Young & the 2nd Street Steel Drum. The band has received nominations for several awards, including a Grammy nomination for “Best American Roots Song.”
