City Council To Consider Land Use Element Maps

The Long Beach City Council is slated to vote on city staff’s recommended maps for the Land Use Element and Urban Design Element, which outline allowable land uses, building heights and density, at Tuesday’s (March 6) meeting, 5 p.m., City Hall. Click here for existing land use maps.

 

Utility Transfer Charter Amendment Up For Vote Next Week

The city council and the charter amendment committee are holding a joint meeting on March 7 to vote on holding a municipal election for a proposed charter amendment in conjunction with the state primary election on June 5. The charter amendment relates to the transfer of utility revenue and is meant to offset the financial impacts of recent litigation that would cause an impact of $8.3 million to the General Fund in 2019.

 

IRS, FBI Warn Employers to Beware of W-2 Phishing Scam

The IRS and FBI are warning employers of a W-2 phishing scam that is once again making the rounds, affecting employers and employees. The scam starts with a friendly e-mail before asking for employee data.

 

Applications Open For San Pedro Bay Ports Community Grants

The San Pedro Bay ports are accepting applications to fund community programs and events. The Port of Long Beach sponsors local initiatives that inform city residents about the port’s leadership role in commerce and environmental sustainability. Community groups may submit their requests through March 30. Applications for the Port of Los Angeles Community Investment Grant program, which supports efforts benefiting the harbor community, are due by 4 p.m. on May 7. The Port of Los Angeles is hosting two information sessions about the application process.
